Healthy and unhealthy blood pressure range:

Here are five blood pressure categories recognized by the American Heart Association:

Simple :

Blood pressure numbers of less than 120/80 mm Hg are considered within the normal range. If your results fall into this category, maintain heart-healthy habits such as a balanced diet and exercising regularly.

Elevated :

High blood pressure occurs when the readings are consistently less than 120-129 systolic and less than 80 mm Hg diastolic. People with advanced blood pressure are more likely to develop hypertension if they do not take control of the condition.

Hypertension Stage 1

Hypertension stage 1 is blood pressure consistently between 130-139 systolic or 80-89 mm Hg diastolic. At this stage of hypertension, physicians can prescribe lifestyle changes and add blood pressure medication based on the risk of developing atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), such as a heart attack or stroke.

Hypertension stage 2

Hypertension stage 2 is that the blood pressure is consistently 140/90 mm Hg or more. At this stage of high blood pressure, physicians may prescribe a combination of blood pressure medications and lifestyle changes.

Hypertensive crisis

Treatment at this stage of hypertension requires care. If your blood pressure readings suddenly exceed 180/120 mm Hg, wait five minutes and then check your blood pressure again. If your studies are still abnormally high, contact your doctor immediately.
